Clark Family – Golden Hour at Rocklin Quarry

This sweet family session at Rocklin Quarry was one I had been looking forward to for a long time. From the moment we walked up to the quarry, there was an ease about the session…playful, connected, and completely present with one another. It’s always such a gift to photograph families like this, where you can feel the love before you even lift the camera.

We started the session exploring the quarry, letting the girls lead the way. There’s something so special about giving kids space to just be. To let them notice the little things, to pick up rocks and treasures, and to let their curiosity guide the moment. It didn’t take long for their personalities to shine in front of the camera. Between giggles, whispered conversations, and excited discoveries, the session naturally unfolded in the most beautiful way.

As we eased into more guided moments, the girls never lost that sense of freedom. There were peace signs, twirls, and the kind of laughter that makes you forget a camera is even there. Honestly, it’s exactly the kind of energy I hope for and aim for in every session. A safe space where posed and candid moments blend together seamlessly, so nothing ever feels forced.

What made this session especially meaningful was the quiet strength and love that ties this family together. This season of life they’re in is one of growth, healing, and stepping forward while still holding close everything that matters most. There was no heaviness, only warmth, connection, and a deep sense of love that showed up in every interaction.

Mom created such a safe and joyful space for her girls. You could see it in the way they leaned into her, wrapped their arms around her, and stayed close without being asked. It’s a kind of love that feels steady and intentional. A love that carries a family forward with grace.

Golden hour gave us the most dreamy light to work with, wrapping everything in soft warmth as we moved from the quarry to the open grass. That transition felt like a perfect reflection of the session itself, starting grounded and exploratory, then opening up into light, movement, and joy. The girls ran, danced, and soaked up every last bit of sunshine, completely at ease and fully themselves.

These are the kinds of sessions that stay with you. Not just because of the images, but because of the feeling behind them. This beautiful family is stepping into a new chapter, one filled with love, resilience, and so much light. And it was truly an honor to capture a small piece of their story.
