Golden Moments in the Logan Mountains: A Fall Family Session

Tucked away in the glowing mountains of Logan, Utah, this fall family session was pure magic from start to finish. The trees had turned to fire—the kind of gold, orange, and crimson that stops you in your tracks. The air had that perfect crispness that only comes in autumn, and golden hour wrapped the mountains in a light that made everything feel soft and storybook-like.

As a traveling family photographer, I live for these kinds of evenings when in Utah for peak season—when the setting, the light, and the love all align in such a natural, effortless way. This stunning family of four made the most of every moment. Their connection was so easy to see—genuine, joyful, and full of tenderness.

Their son was sweet and playful, with a sense of tenderness that lit up every frame. Whether he was exploring the tall grass or looking up at his parents with wide, trusting eyes, he brought a quiet energy that was so grounding. And their daughter? An absolute spark. She had personality bursting from every movement—twirling in her dress, giggling as leaves fell, and shining in front of the camera like she was made for it.

Together, these two balanced each other so beautifully. Sibling moments are always special to capture, but when they unfold this naturally—laughs, hugs, even a few playful bumps—they turn into something truly memorable.

Mom and Dad were the steady, loving center of it all. Their warmth set the tone for the entire session. The way they interacted with their kids, the calm in their voices, the way they reached for each other without thinking—it spoke volumes. Photographing families who are so present in the moment makes my job feel like a privilege.

The mountains of Logan gave us the perfect backdrop, and that Utah fall light? It did not disappoint. Every leaf glowed, every breeze carried the feeling of change, and the entire session felt soaked in nostalgia—the kind of moments you want to hold onto before the season turns again.

I was incredibly lucky to second shoot this session alongside the amazing BreAnne Weston, whose talent behind the camera and eye for detail always inspires me. Her direction and gentle posing created space for real connection, and I was honored to help document it from my lens as well.

This session was more than just beautiful—it was a reminder of how fleeting and special this season of family life is. These are the golden moments, the ones you’ll look back on with full hearts and maybe even a few tears. And I’m so grateful I got to be a small part of capturing them.
