Golden Hour to Moonlight: A Family Shoot at Tunnel Springs Park
As a Northern California Wedding & Family Photographer who also travels frequently to Utah and Hawaii, I get to work with families in some of the most beautiful places in the world. One of my recent sessions took me to Tunnel Springs Park in Bountiful, Utah. Spoiler! It was pure magic from start to finish.
This session featured a strong, joyful mama and her three amazing kids. Two energetic boys and their sweet little sister. Right from the start, their energy was contagious. They raced through the golden grass, struck goofy poses, and wrapped their arms around their mom in the kind of tight, love-soaked hugs that melt your heart.
Tunnel Springs Park is known for its open fields and rolling hills, with the Wasatch Mountains providing a stunning backdrop. The golden hour light was everything a photographer dreams of—soft, glowing, and warm. But what made this shoot truly unforgettable wasn’t just the scenery or the light—it was the connection between this mother and her children. Every laugh, every twirl, every spontaneous moment was filled with love and joy.
As the sun dipped behind the hills, we weren’t ready to wrap up. The kids were still having the time of their lives, and their mom was soaking in every second of their playfulness. So we stayed. We photographed into the blue hour, catching silhouettes, twinkle-lit smiles, and the soft glow of twilight. There’s a unique magic that happens when you lean into those in-between moments, and it’s where some of the most genuine images come to life.
